Art Moves Des Plaines

The Call for Works for the 2019 pop-up exhibition in Metro Square is now open.

Justin Stankus is the featured artist for First Thursdays at the Frisbie for April 2019.

Penny Weinberg will be the featured artist for May 2019.
Reception: Thursday, May 2 from 5 – 7 PM

Des Plaines History Center Mural

The Des Plaines Arts Council is working with the Des Plaines History Center and the City of Des Plaines on an outdoor mural project by artist Jason Watts to be installed on the Des Plaines History Center building, located at 781 Pearson Street, Des Plaines, IL 60016. The mural is scheduled to be completed by the end of May, 2019. An opening reception event is planned , date to be announced.

 

2019 Youth Scholarship Program Applications

The Arts Council awards scholarships in two categories. Students currently in grades 4 through 8 are eligible for a maximum of $500, while students in grades 9 through 12 are eligible for a maximum of $1000.

Applications were due on March 31, 2019. The announcement of scholarship awardees will be made soon.

The Des Plaines Arts Council meets on the second Tuesday of each month (except August and December) at 7:30 am at the Prairie Lakes Community Center, 515 E. Thacker St., Des Plaines.
