The Des Plaines Arts Council is proud to partner with the City of Des Plaines, The Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce, and the Des Plaines Parks District to strengthen, encourage, and support the arts community of our city.

The Des Plaines Arts Council has made a special effort to encourage young people to pursue their creative talents by awarding scholarships. Each year the Council provides $6000 in scholarships to students from 4th grade through High School, and since 1997 has given over $50,000 in arts scholarships. Learn more »
Works by artists are displayed for view in a store front in Metropolitan Square in downtown Des Plaines. Art Moves Des Plaines pop-up gallery has held exhibitions since 2015. Learn more »
The First Thursdays Event is a co-operative venture between the Des Plaines Art Council and the Frisbie Senior Center. Each month, an artist displays their work at the Frisbie. A reception is held on the Firs Thursday of each month. Learn more »

As a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization, The Des Plaines Arts Council operates as an umbrella group for many community arts organizations and events including the Summer Concert Series in Lake Park, the Community Mural Project, Lake/Winter Wonderland, Family Fest and The Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce After Hours program.
